Staying on the club floor of the Ritz Carleton absolutely rules. Thank you Phil and Esmeralda for getting us such a great deal here. Among many niceties, the free, western-style breakfast is much appreciated.
Congee, the standard Chinese breakfast, is a watery rice porridge that is fine, but I think you need to grow up eating it to really love it. Of course, many Chinese people pick up dumplings or a rolled savory pancake on the way to work, breakfast options I support wholeheartedly.
Oh, and the China Daily offers quite a controlled perspective on the daily news. Of course, our media outlets are fiercely slanted as well, but at least they aren't controlled by the government. Instead, they control the government... right, Rush?
