Ellen Infiltrates Hat-Wearing Chinese Tour Groups

There are our a couple things from here and there on our trip that never quite made it up, but now that we're poolside with wifi in beautiful Hainan Island, we can pick up the pieces. Here's one from Beijing.

The major tourist attractions in Beijing were wall-to-wall packed. P-A-C-K-E-D. At some point, we just kinda lost it and started photographing all of the Chinese tour groups around us, differentiated by their headgear.

Then, my mother started trying to blend in. Things were dicey at first. The presence of a newcomer, a foreigner, made the tour groups skittish.

But, by the end, she won their trust and was welcomed into the tribe.
