Local Lunch

Our single-minded, ruthlessly efficient tour guide, Yeu, took us to a noodle shop right next to the university. More on Yeu later but, for now, just know that he doesn't mess around.

It was a grungy, divey joint, but they serve the best noodles in town and a Yeu-approved pork sandwich, too.

We had a great cold green dish, heavy with ginger and sesame, a whole-chicken dish sliced into thin strips and light, fluffy noodles in rich chicken broth, under a slick of chili oil.

Noodle action shots!

We had enough left over for four more people and lunch cost less than 100 yuan. Also, a serious mess was made.
